The main events of the company’s life
“Ukrposhta” was established on February 2, 1994, on the basis of the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as a separate state-owned structure. This decision was a result of the telecommunications industry reform (division into postal communications and telecommunications).
In July 1998, the association was reorganized into Ukrainian State Postal Service Enterprise “Ukrposhta”. Since 1999, it has been transformed into a unitary enterprise based on state ownership and belonging to the management of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. This year, a new 5-digit postal indexing system was introduced in Ukraine.
From 2016, a new stage of development of Ukrposhta began. 95% of central management team members were replaced by new people. The changes also positively affected customer service and cooperation with partners. An effective employee motivation system has been created. Inefficient products and services were eliminated.
On March 1st, 2017 Ukrposhta became a public joint stock company. This corporatization procedure of a state enterprise became the shortest in the history of Ukraine — and lasted only 8 months. The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine performs the functions of managing the corporate rights of the state, with a total nominal value of shares of UAH 6,518,597,000.
In the spring of 2017, Ukrposhta presented its new brand. From now, the main visual symbol of Ukrposhta is a postal horn, which underlines the symbols of the postal service, and at the same time transforms into a modern geolocation icon — pin.
In the autumn of 2017, Ukrposhta announced the placement of bonds with a total value of UAH 600 million in an amount of 6,000.
Ukrposhta became a member of the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard, as well as the national payment system “Prostor”.
The company is actively cooperating with the ProZorro system for public procurement and was awarded the “The Best in Procurement” prize. Ukrposhta was the first among state-owned enterprises to start renting real estate via ProZorro. Sales system.
Ukrposhta’s partners include the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the postal operators in Europe, Asia and the USA.
According to the results of 2017, thanks to the work of Ukrposhta as the national postal operator, Ukraine was ranked 33rd in the United Postal Union rating by postal development index (2IPD). Among the 173 posts of the world, the main post of Ukraine improved its performance and get 7 positions up.
In the spring of 2018, Ukrposhta obtained the license from the National Bank of Ukraine to transfer national currency without opening accounts. This enabled the company to provide cashless customer service by accepting payment cards.
In 2018, Ukrposhta for the first time involved the international auditor to conduct the financial audit.
Transforming Ukrposhta into a joint-stock company is an important step for the company. This procedure makes it possible to create a transparent efficient state-owned company of a new model, attract international investment for its development and, as a result, significantly improve the quality of work to meet the basic client needs.
