Despite the war, acquiring operations of Ukrposhta are growing during the first 6 months of the year. Compared to the first half of 2021, their volume increased by 66% to UAH 6.5 billion, and the number of transactions increased by 47% to 6.8 million.

“Since the first days of the war, Ukrposhta has been operating and providing basic financial services throughout Ukraine, except for the occupied territories. Accordingly, customers can receive cash or credit a payment card or pay for a product or service by card. With the beginning of the war, these services gained extreme importance for Ukrainians. Considering that banks have closed in many cities in recent months, our post offices are almost the only place for financial services provision. Moreover, in recent years, Ukrposhta expanded the range of financial services and purchased POS terminals, which allowed to increase the number of automated post offices where bank card transactions can be carried out. Accordingly, during last 6 months of the current year, both their volume and number increased, and the most popular services were the issuance of cash and the crediting of cards. Ukrposhta plans to continue increasing the number of post offices where customers can access basic banking services. In particular, it is planned to install more than 2,000 additional POS terminals by the end of this year. Due to the fact that Ukrposhta began to introduce banking services and purchase POS terminals for automated post offices, today we proved to be ready for the challenges that the war posed to us and provided millions of Ukrainians with the services they needed,” - said the head of Ukrposhta financial business department Oleh Kliapko.

In the first 6 months of the year, number of payments by bank card for goods and services has extremely increased. It is a convenient method of payment and, accordingly, the number of customers paying by card increases. For 6 months of the current year, the volume of the service amounted to more than UAH 4 billion and more than 5 million of such transactions were performed. Compared to the same period last year, the growth was 24% and 39%, respectively.

The second volume among acquiring operations was cash issuance operations. At the beginning of the war, most shops and pharmacies accepted only cash, and accordingly rose a demand for this service in Ukrposhta post offices. Compared to 6 months of 2021, the volume of manual cash increased by 140% and the total amount was more than UAH 2 billion. During the first half of the current year, more than 1 million of these operations were carried out.

The third service in terms of volume became crediting of bank cards, when many Ukrainians temporarily left for other regions of Ukraine and abroad for temporary shelter from the war. During 6 months of the year, Ukrainians credited cards with more than UAH 382 million in Ukrposhta post offices, which is 8 times more than during the same period last year. More than 175,000 operations were performed and the number increased 3 times.

It should be noted that Ukrposhta is among the TOP-6 companies in Ukraine in terms of the number of its own POS terminals and has 7,500 terminals in more than 4,000 automated post offices.
