Ukrposhta increases volume of card transactions


Ukrainians in April topped up cards through Ukrposhta POS-terminals to UAH 63.6 million, which is 40% more than in March. Average receipt per transaction did not change in comparison with current March - UAH 2,3 ths. in April against UAH 2,1 ths. in March.

Increase of transactions for card account replenishment is explained by the fact that due to the occupation banking institutions significantly limited their work in the regions, while Ukrposhta provides almost all services, which were available before the war, including financial ones. In addition, Ukrainians replenish card accounts of their relatives, who may be in other cities or even countries because of the war.

The volume of acquiring transactions, namely replenishment of payment cards through POS-terminals of Ukrposhta grows for the second month: in April Ukrainians used the service of card cash replenishment 27.5 thousand times for total amount 63.6 million UAH against 21.3 thousand transactions in March amounting to 45 million UAH. For comparison, the same indicator of February was 19 thousand card recharge transactions to the total amount of UAH 23.4 million.

Also in April the number of card payments for goods and services in the branches of Ukrposhta increased by 31% and totalled 755 thousand operations totalling 737 million UAH.

As a whole, the number of acquiring operations of Ukrposhta, including card payments, top-up and cash withdrawal from payment cards in April increased by 14.7%.

The increase of card operations was also due to the automation of offices. Since the beginning of the war, Ukrposhta has automated 79 rural post offices in Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Rivne, Poltava, Lugansk, Kirovograd and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Thus 125 thousand Ukrainians living in villages got access to financial services.

There is no fee for cash withdrawal in Ukrposhta, but the bank that issued the card can charge a fee for cash withdrawal.
