50,000 international items delivered according to the new customs rules: Ukrainian business continues to sell in European Union
Ukrainian entrepreneurs have sent through Ukrposhta approximately 50,000 commercial items to the European Union (EU) according to the new customs requirements. Most of them go to Germany, France and Poland.
New rules have been in force in Europe since 1st of July and foreseen the charge in the amount of 3 EUR for each commodity unit indicated by a separate line in customs declaration and new rules due to VAT application.
Upon the effective date, Ukrposhta has integrated with the automated technical solution provided by the International Post Corporation (IPC) – international organization with its headquarters in Brussels. The system transmits customs data and information about the payments prior to the parcel itself crosses the border. Currently, only 13 national Postal Operators of the world have integrated this system, within the list is Ukrposhta.
“You can talk a lot about integrations and new systems, but, in fact, one thing is of high importance for the entrepreneurs: whether it is possible to sell quickly their products to buyers in Berlin, Paris or Warsaw and send it from Ukraine without bureaucratic circles of hell. The answer is YES. More than 50,000 commercial items which have already passed to under the new EU rules, – is the best proof that the system works and that Ukrposhta, not by words, systematically supports exporters” – noted Director General of JSC “Ukrposhta”, Igor Smelyansky.
In August Ukrposhta took another step for export facilitation and launched technical integration with Etsy. After synchronizing Ukrposhta’s Personal Account with the Etsy store, orders are automatically downloaded together with the buyer’s address and data about the item. As a result, after this operation, the tracking item ID is transferred back to Etsy. The seller does not need to insert information manually between two services, delivery can be made and paid on-line.
E-Export school is the best tool for entrepreneurs who have the intention to enter international markets. At this platform there are available free courses, webinars and practical sales materials through Etsy, eBay, Amazon and Shopify – from store opening to payment service and conducting of international delivery.
The sales geography is not limited to the European countries. Ukrposhta delivers mail to more than 230 countries and territories all over the world: the journey of parcel from Kyiv to London can take from 3 days, to the USA – from 7 days. Ukrainian entrepreneurs can sell goods at global marketplaces and send orders to the buyers directly from Ukraine.
New EU rules are subject to consideration during the item's registration: a fee in the amount of 3 EUR is charged for each individual commodity unit in the customs declaration. Several typical commodity units with the same Harmonised system tariff code can be declared as one item. Additionally, VAT can be applied if it has not been paid via the IOSS system and local payments of the destination country.
