Ukrposhta and Canada Post extend preferential tariffs and agree on speeding up the delivery of parcels from Canada to Ukraine

On September 20, Ukrposhta CEO Igor Smelyansky and Canada Post CEO Doug Ettinger signed a new cooperation agreement in Ottawa. It has become the second agreement between national postal operators, allowing Ukrainians to continue sending parcels to Canada at preferential tariffs. The first agreement provided an opportunity to increase the volume of parcel deliveries from Ukraine to Canada by 25%.

Therefore, the effect of discounts will be extended next year: 10% for oversized parcels and 15% for "Small packages PRIME". It is a significant support for domestic businesses that want to sell goods to the Canadian market because Canada is on the list of the most popular countries for exports from Ukraine. The grant for domestic exporters under the “UA Global: Etsy Start” program, will become an additional opportunity to increase the volume of exports in this market.

The postal operators of Ukraine and Canada continue to cooperate not only in tariff regulation but also to improve logistics. Currently, shipments by Ukrposhta are sent to Toronto and Vancouver via European airports, particularly through London (via the DHL Global Match solution) and Frankfurt. Separating the flows, the company also pre-sorts parcels in Ukraine to ensure faster delivery within Canada. As a result, the majority of shipments from Ukraine reach their recipients in Canada within 7-14 days. We have now agreed to develop a similar solution for delivering parcels from Canada to Ukraine, ensuring a reliable and affordable channel for the Ukrainian community to send shipments back home.

CEO of Ukrposhta, Igor Smelyansky, noted: "It is important for us to continue providing Ukrainian exporters with the opportunity to develop their businesses abroad, especially in countries like Canada, where there is a large Ukrainian diaspora and demand for our products. Our clients entrusted us with more than 200,000 parcels. Together with Canada Post, we consistently work to ensure convenient and cost-effective delivery, and to increase the volume of both social and commercial shipments."

Thanks to the close cooperation between the two postal operators, Ukrainians in Canada can easily send parcels home on preferential terms from any of the 6,200+ Canada Post offices to recipients across Ukraine, in more than 27,000 settlements where Ukrposhta operates. Parcels can also be sent from Ukraine to all cities and towns in Canada.
