Ukrposhta paid more than UAH 2 billion from the state and international organizations to Ukrainians affected by the full-scale war
Ukrposhta has become a key provider of financial assistance from the state, as well as international organizations and charitable foundations for internally displaced persons and people living in the de-occupied territories. In total, including pension payments, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the postal operator has provided over UAH 2 billion of financial assistance, including
- UAH 544 million - pension payments to internally displaced persons;
- More than UAH 63 million - state one-time payments to passengers of evacuation trains;
- almost UAH 590 million - payments to internally displaced persons from the UNHCR;
- over UAH 466 million - payments from the International Organization for Migration to the most vulnerable groups of internally displaced persons. Almost UAH 5 million of which was paid in the de-occupied territories;
- almost UAH 38.2 million - payments to Ukrainians in the de-occupied territories from the Red Cross Society;
- almost UAH 200 million - payments from other international humanitarian organizations and funds.
"Ukrposhta is currently the only structure that has the opportunity to be one of the first to get to the de-occupied areas to issue pensions and social payments to the local population due to mobile branches. The ability to bring cash to the de-occupied territories is extremely important and necessary, because banking institutions do not work there and Ukrposhta is the only provider of financial services not only in villages but also in liberated cities. The experience of Ukrposhta in issuing pensions and the trust of the state, which also chooses Ukrposhta to provide financial assistance in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions, are the criteria by which the world's leading charitable foundations are increasingly choosing us as a strategic partner for their projects to financially support the population affected by the war," commented Dmytro Polishchuk, Deputy General Director of Ukrposhta for Network Development.
- Due to many years of experience in issuing cash pensions, social benefits, a wide network of stationary and mobile branches covering all settlements of Ukraine without exception, the ability to be one of the first to reach the de-occupied areas, leading charitable foundations and organizations have chosen Ukrposhta as a strategic partner for the payment of financial assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war. The postal operator provides various formats of cash payments: cash withdrawal at the branch, targeted delivery, instant transfers, delivery by mobile offices, payments to passengers of evacuation trains directly at the stations. Thus, Ukrposhta successfully implements various directions aimed at supporting and protecting Ukrainians.
- The first project of financial support for the population was the issuance of one-time state aid to passengers of evacuation trains. This is a joint project of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukrposhta, which began in May 2022. Since then, more than UAH 63 million of state aid has been provided to almost 27 thousand internally displaced persons.
Then Ukrposhta started cooperation with UNHCR. Jointly, a large-scale financial program was launched for a period of three months, so that internally displaced Ukrainians who suffered from Russian aggression could meet their basic needs through payments. Since the launch of the program, Ukrposhta has issued more than 65.5 thousand transfers in the amount of almost UAH 590 million. The funds were transferred through an urgent postal transfer, which allowed Ukrainians to receive money within 15 minutes after their receipt.
Since March, Ukrposhta, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, has started providing financial assistance to socially vulnerable categories of people, and since September - to all Ukrainians living in the territories liberated from occupation. Since the launch of the program through the branches of JSC "Ukrposhta" the payments for almost UAH 466 million have been made, including UAH 5 million for residents of de-occupied cities and villages.
With the liberation of the occupied territories of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions, there was a need to support Ukrainians who lived under occupation. And since Ukrposhta is perhaps the only company that, thanks to its mobile branches and close cooperation with the OVA, can ensure the delivery and distribution of cash to de-occupied cities and villages, charitable organizations turned to the postal operator with joint projects. Since September, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society has been working closely with Ukrposhta to provide one-time cash assistance to Ukrainians. To date, Ukrposhta has paid almost UAH 38.2 million of financial assistance from this organization. Payments are made in Kharkiv, Kherson and Donetsk regions. The largest payments - totalling more than UAH 28.77 million - were paid in Kharkiv region.
Note: Ukrposhta also cooperates with a number of international humanitarian organizations and charitable foundations working to overcome the humanitarian crisis in the de-occupied territories. As part of this work, more than 20 thousand transfers were made for a total amount of almost UAH 200 million.
