Ukrposhta will issue a postage stamp "UKRAINIAN DREAM" with the symbol of Ukrainian aviation

25.04.2022

The largest and most powerful transport aircraft AN-225 "Mriya" (in translation from Ukrainian is Dream) is the pride of every Ukrainian. We watched with admiration as this handsome plain flew high in the sky. But at the beginning of the war, on February 24, the Russians shelled the airport in Gostomel and it was destroyed together with the "Mriya". Out of envy, out of hate for Ukrainian symbols, they fired at a transport plane. However, the invaders do not understand that they can destroy the plane but certainly can not destroy the Ukrainian dream.

To show once again the strength of spirit of the Ukrainian people, to emphasize that symbols live longer than metal, Ukrposhta announces the issue of the postage stamp "UKRAINIAN DREAM", dedicated to the world's most powerful aircraft AN-225 "Mriya". And while Ukrainian aircraft designers will work on creating a new aircraft, "UKRAINIAN DREAM" will fly to different parts of Ukraine and the world on postcards and postal envelopes.

The image on the stamp is based on a drawing of eleven-year-old Sofia Kravchuk from Lyuboml in the Volyn region. In the drawing, the largest aircraft flies to the stars and is decorated with pink flowers.

This work won one of the prizes in the All-Ukrainian drawing and photography contest "What is Ukraine for me?" The contest took place last year as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

"We see the great interest in Ukrainian wartime postage stamps. I think it can be explained by their themes: we depict living symbols that are becoming significant for the whole country here and now. I am sure that both Ukrainians and foreigners will want to have the UKRAINIAN DREAM stamp. Therefore, given the hype made by the first stamp, we will choose a circulation that could meet the demand of our clients as much as possible. I strongly believe that our stamps have the strength to materialize the events depicted on them. To buy a postage stamp with the "UKRAINIAN DREAM" today to make the new "Mriya" fly into the sky in a few years - this is why, at least once in your life, you should become a philatelist. And this is the thing that the Russian military occupiers will never take away from us - the ability to unite and restore our "Dream" - noted the Director General of Ukrposhta Igor Smelyanskyi.
