Ukrainians in March recharged cards through Ukrposhta for 45.2 million UAH

In March Ukrainians deposited twice more money to the cards in Ukrposhta than in February. If in February the service of cash deposit to the card was used 19 thousand times for a total of UAH 23.4 million, in March the Ukrainians transferred to the cards UAH 45.2 million. The average bill on card transactions in March increased by 70% compared to February.

Kyiv and Chernihiv are the absolute leaders in the growth of volumes of payment cards recharge services. There the volumes increased by 9.5 and 4.4 times respectively.

Ukrposhta explains the growth by the fact that many Ukrainians, forced to evacuate due to the outbreak of war, for security reasons transferred cashed to hryvnia card accounts. Since it was problematic to buy currency or quickly open a foreign currency card because of the limited operation of banks, Ukrainians used Ukrposhta's financial services to top up their hryvnia cards with which to pay abroad.

The increase in volumes could also be due to the fact that Ukrainians who received pensions and payments by proxy for their relatives immediately transferred funds to them using their payment card number.

In addition, since the beginning of the war, some self-service terminals stopped working, so Ukrainians who needed to pay off debts on credit cards turned to Ukrposhta. However, during March the network of working post offices of Ukrposhta was larger than the network of working branches of banks and other logistic operators.

Recharge cards through POS terminals of Ukrposhta are available in all automated post offices of Ukrposhta. The recharge fee is 1.5% of the amount, but not less than 10 UAH.
