Ukrposhta issued one million postage stamps "Russian warship, f***k you…!"

12.04.2022

On April 12, Ukrposhta presented and put into circulation the first postage stamps "Russian warship, f***k you...!" in wartime conditions. This phrase - the answer of Ukrainian border guards, defenders of Snake Island, to the Russian ship on the offer to surrender on the day of the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine on February 24 has become a symbol of courage and indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people in the fight against Russia.

In Kiev, the special postmarking "First Day" took place at the Main Post Office with the participation of Igor Smelyansky, General Director of Ukrposhta, and the author of the famous phrase, defender of Snake Island, Marine Roman Grybov. Simultaneously with Kiev, the special postmarking "Russian warship, f***k you...!" took place in all regions of Ukraine. The participant of the special postmarking ceremony in Lviv was the author of the sketch of the postage stamp and envelope "The First Day", the winner of the national competition for the best sketch for the postage stamp, the Crimean citizen Boris Groh. Boris' work gathered the most votes - 8,000 facebook and instagram users voted for it.

Until 2014, Boris lived in Yevpatoria. After the Russian occupation of Crimea, he was forced to move to Lviv.

Ukrainian philately during the war is a reflection of the events experienced by our state and our people. The phrase that inspired us to create the postage stamp has already become a symbol of the indomitability of the AFU, the volunteers, the territorial defense, all Ukrainians in the fight for their land and the independence of Ukraine. I am sure that Ukrainians and our friends from abroad will be pleased to receive letters with such a postage stamp. And today in this postal way we once again remind the invaders that they should immediately get off our land and follow their ship", - said Igor Smelyansky, General Director of Ukrposhta.

The postage stamp "Russian warship, f**k you...!" was issued by Ukrposhta in two denominations - for payment of postal items within Ukraine (denomination F, equivalent of 23 UAH) and for payment of postal items going abroad (denomination W, equivalent of $1,5 USD).

An envelope "The first day" was issued to the stamp, circulation - 20 thousand copies.

You can buy postage stamps "Russian warship, f**k you...!" in the post offices of Ukrposhta and in the philatelic online store.
