Ukrposhta stops issuing stamps and stamped envelopes with the letter denominations of V and Z

11.04.2022

Ukrposhta will no longer produce stamps and stamped envelopes with the letter denomination V (the tariff of UAH 12 for sending ordinary letters weighing up to 50g within Ukraine, the most popular among Ukrainian tariffs) as well as stamps with the nominal value Z (the equivalent of $1 for international delivery of letters weighing up to 50g). Ukrposhta has been actively using these and other letter denominations since 2017.

Due to Russia's efforts the letters V and Z have become symbols of the new fascism and terror, and the national operator has decided to stop producing postage stamps and stamped envelopes using them and has already started to develop new postage marks with other letter denominations.

Taking into account the peculiarities of the production of stamped products and technical capabilities of the manufacturing enterprises, the development of new marks of postage payment will take some time. At the same time, postage stamps and stamped envelopes put into circulation till 24.02.2022 will be further considered valid for postal service payment - Ukrposhta continues their realization in all its branches and acceptance of letter mail from clients, paid by stamps of the above denominations.

This is due to the needs of continuity of postal circulation, and in order to avoid damage to public institutions and private companies, which have already purchased the mentioned postage stamps for the use of postal services.

Postage stamps, except their direct function - payment for the services of sending letter mail, are also works of art, which popularize our country in the world, are kept in the collections of philatelists in different countries, are the property of the Museum Fund.

Among the art issues by Ukrposhta with denominations V there are: postage stamps "Trident" 2022, "Merchant Marine "Cherkassy" U311" 2021, "Monument of Independence (2001), Kyiv" 2021, "Peredova" 2020, "They stood their ground! The concrete did not hold! 2020, "Glory to Ukraine! 2019, stamp sheet "Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ground Forces". 2021, a series of stamped envelopes "Glory to the heroes!" etc. which can be purchased even now in Ukrposhta philatelic online store.
