The volume of acquiring transactions through Ukrposhta's POS terminals exceeded one billion: 1.6 million transactions for the total amount of UAH 1.11 billion were recorded in December 2021.
The increase in the volume of transactions in December 2021 amounted to 73% compared to the same period last year, and the number of transactions increased by 59%.
“In response to the growing demand for non-cash payments, Ukrposhta is planning to expand the network of its own terminals in 2022. Now we have 7.5 thousand terminals, and are planning to install 2.5 thousand more. These terminals will be installed in new post offices that Ukrposhta will open this year, as well as in rural post offices that did not have POS terminals before,” commented Oleh Kliapko, Director of the Financial Business Department.
On average, Ukrposhta’s customers perform about 50,000 card transactions per day: payments by card, payment card top-up or cash withdrawal from the card via Ukrposhta’s POS terminals.
The increase in the number of card transactions is the result of the increase in the number of Ukrposhta’s own POS terminals: last year, Ukrposhta installed 2,500 terminals and thus became the sixth acquiring company in terms of the number of POS terminals. All computerized post offices of Ukrposhta (more than 4,000 offices in cities and villages) are equipped with POS terminals.
In addition to card payments, in a post office customers can top up VISA, Mastercard and Prostir payment cards issued by any bank of Ukraine at a rate lower than the average rate in banks and self-service payment terminals. The service fee is 1.5% of the top-up amount, minimum UAH 10. Customers can also withdraw cash from a card without a fee in post offices with payment terminals (UAH 50 to 15 thousand per transaction).
