How to open a store on eBay before the start of the high season: a free video course from Ukrposhta and USAID

09.11.2020

The third part of the free educational online course dedicated to starting sales on eBay from Ukrposhta and USAID’s Competitive Economy of Ukraine Program, is released on November 9, 2020.

eBay is the world's largest online auction. The platform has 200 million registered users, 20 million of which are sellers. 78% of buyers are residents of the United States. Users can sell both new products and vintage items on the platform. Experts say one can make thousands of dollars just by decluttering the attic and putting old things up for the auction. Top categories of goods from Ukraine are auto parts, clothes and accessories, jewellery, watches and collectibles.

“The eBay platform is an opportunity to sell anything you could sell, for example, on a Ukrainian marketplace, but at several times higher prices. Among our customers, there are more people who open stores on Etsy than on eBay, although the platform opens up great opportunities for Ukrainian sellers. More than 60% of Ukrainian entrepreneurs make more than 50 shipments a month on eBay. This suggests that first-time entrepreneurs and small shops can effectively sell on this marketplace. That is, selling abroad online is really easy, with especially numerous opportunities for manufacturers. We believe that the educational course and practical guidelines from successful entrepreneurs will help Ukrainian people from all over the country to believe in themselves and their business and will encourage them to sell on the platform," says Yulia Pavlenko, Director of the International Operations Department at Ukrposhta.

«Selling on eBay is a good way to make some extra cash from the comfort of your home but you need to work it out to make it a real business. Maxim is giving great tips for launching and running eBay sales profitably and you would find your own niche following the advice. Good luck!» - said Dušan Kulka, Export Promotion Team Leader of the USAID Competitive Economy Program.

With the video course on eBay you will learn how to open a store and create effective listings, which sales model to choose, how to deliver goods, receive payments and much more. Maksim Gopanchuk, the course expert on successful on-site sales, the founder of KGUBrass specializing in parts for musical instruments, has been selling on eBay for ten years. In 2020, he won the Disruptor of the Year award by Payoneer.
