FAQ on sending terms

The following terms are determined for sending the post items from the post office where the items is received to the post office of the place of delivery (excluding weekends):

  • four days for delivery of local items (postal items sent within the inhabited locality, and in rural areas — within the territory served by one post office);
  • five days for delivery of items within one region and between regional centres of Ukraine;
  • six days for delivery of items between regional centres of different regions of Ukraine;
  • seven days for delivery of items between other inhabited localities of different regions of Ukraine.

(Normative terms have been developed in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On postal services”, acts of the Universal Postal Union, the Rules for the provision of postal services and other legal acts regulating the activity in the field of provision of postal services and approved by the Order of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine no. 1149 as of 12.12.2007, with amendments No. 1267 as of 08.12.2009).

  • three days for delivery of items between regional centres of different regions of Ukraine (including for cities of regional subordination);
  • seven days for delivery of items between other inhabited localities of different regions of Ukraine.

The following terms are determined for sending uninsured letter post and postcards from the time of last removal from post boxes until the time of putting them to the recipient’s post box (excluding weekends):

  • three days for delivery of local letter post (letter post sent within the inhabited locality, and in rural areas — within the territory served by one post office);
  • four days for delivery of items within one region and between regional centres of Ukraine (including Kyiv, Simferopol, Sevastopol);
  • five days for delivery of items between regional centres of different regions of Ukraine (including for cities of regional subordination);
  • six days for delivery of items between other inhabited localities of different regions of Ukraine.

In case of failure to serve a registered letter marked “Judicial summons” addressed to an individual, the registered letter shall be stored in the post office for three business days and shall be returned to the return address together with the service notification form no later than the next business day.

In case of failure to serve a registered letter marked “Judicial summons” addressed to a legal entity, as well as a registered letter which the addressee refused to receive, such letter together with service notification form shall be returned to the return address no later than the next business day.

At the written request of the sender / addressee, the period of storage of postal items (except letters marked “Summons”), internal postal orders may be extended for an additional charge until two months from the date of receipt at the post office of the destination (in accordance with clause 116 of the Rules for the provision of postal services, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 270 as of 05.03.09).

Applications for search of registered postal items, postal orders are accepted within six months from the date of their acceptance for sending (in accordance with clause 122 of the Rules for the provision of postal services, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 270 as of 05.03.09).

The following should be mentioned in the application:

  • type, category and number of the postal item or category and number of the postal order;
  • place and date of acceptance of item or order;
  • name and patronymic (for legal entities — name) and postal address of sender and addressee;
  • amount of the postal order, amount of the declared value of the postal item, amount of the post pay, data of the submitted document proving identity of the applicant (in some cases).

If you submit the application for search of parcel, letter, parcel with declared value, you shall additionally indicate the type of package, the detailed list and enclosure’s value. If the application concerns grouped postal items, postal orders, then their list is also attached to it.

When submitting the application, the sender shall present an identity document and a payment document (in accordance with clause 122 of the Rules for the provision of postal services, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 270 as of 05.03.09).

The sender shall apply for a letter search to the post office where it was drawn up. If an international postal item without notification of delivery CN07 is searched, the corresponding fee will be paid according to the applicable tariffs.

The original or a copy of the payment document on the acceptance of the postal item — cash receipt, payment receipt, etc. shall be attached to the application and the following information shall be provided:

  • type and category of the postal order;
  • number of postal item;
  • place and date of acceptance for forwarding;
  • forwarding route (air or ground);
  • list of enclosures to the postal item;
  • postal address of sender and recipient.

Applications for search shall be submitted within six months of acceptance of the postal item by the operator of postal service (in accordance with clause 122 of the Rules for the provision of postal services, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 270 as of 05.03.09 according to the Acts of the Universal Postal Union (Geneva, 2008).
