"Fight - You are already winning": Ukrposhta releases audio postcards with modern Ukrainian heroes

16.05.2023

Ukrposhta has presented a series of charity audio postcards featuring the voices of modern Ukrainian heroes who have become symbols of the struggle on the military, volunteer, medical, economic and information fronts. The project consists of 12 postcards, each of which contains a QR code that leads to an audio story. In this way, traditional postcards come to life and address all Ukrainians in the voices of heroes, reminding them how important it is to keep fighting. The idea of creating "voice" postcards belongs to the creative team of MO3GI Group, which is a partner of the project. Each postcard was produced in a run of only 10 thousand copies. All profits will be used to purchase iron birds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The postcard can be sent to any city or country, and thus the voices of Ukrainian heroes will be heard around the world.

It is symbolic that the main idea of the project "Fight - you are already winning" is based on the centuries-old adapted words of Taras Shevchenko, a symbol of freedom-loving, unconquerable, struggle for freedom, rights and independence. "If you struggle, you are already winning" are words that bring faith in victory closer and remind us that it is already happening. These words are still relevant today, as the struggle for independence continues, and Ukraine is once again forced to fight for its freedom in the context of the war with Russia.

The project "Fight - You're Already Winning" collects stories of Ukraine's modern heroes. This is the story of volunteer Tata Kepler, who, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, has travelled with her team to about a hundred settlements - grey zones liberated from the Russians, those that neither other volunteers nor doctors can reach. This is the story of a well-known fighter pilot, Major Vadym Voroshylov of the Ukrainian Air Force, who shot down five enemy drones in Vinnytsia region, taking his plane away from the city. Another story that demonstrates the strength and unbreakable spirit is that of soldier Oleksandr Budko, call sign Teren, who lost both his legs as a result of a Russian shell hit and is now preparing to take part in special competitions for the military. The voice of Azovstal, Kateryna Polishchuk "Birdie"(Ptashka), who was captured while defending Mariupol and did not break down, will also tell her inspiring story. The legendary commander of the Azov Regiment, Denis Prokopenko "Radish", whose story was recorded by his wife, Kateryna, is also one of the heroes of the cards. Igor Lachenkov, a journalist and author of the @lachentyt channel, who, at the age of 23, raises millions of hryvnias a day for the needs of the Armed Forces, will tell us what motivates him to continue fighting on the information front. Another heroine of the project is singer and soldier Anastasia Shevchenko, better known as Stasik, who sang one of the most famous songs of the war, "Lullaby for the Enemy".

The project also includes postcards dedicated to those who have been steadfastly defending the Eastern direction for almost a year now ("Defenders"), those who are restoring traffic in the rear and in the de-occupied territories, those who save lives every day, those who open the doors of their businesses, and those who restore power grids after shelling, providing Ukrainians with heat and light.

Igor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta, said: "Every day Ukrposhta delivers parcels to the military on the frontline and to thousands of Ukrainians across the country and far beyond, thus keeping loved ones connected, business developing and helping Ukraine. These postcards that we present today are also a way for civilians to keep in touch with volunteers, the military, and relatives who are forced to stay away. It is a way to remind everyone who has the opportunity to go to work, meet friends, and live a normal life that the war is still on and everyone can and should contribute to the victory, just like the heroes of our postcards do. For Ukrposhta, voice postcards are a completely new format. But what remains unchanged is that they still unite people around the world with the idea of fighting for the future, fighting good against evil and, most importantly, inspire them to support Ukrainians in our daily struggle until Ukraine, and the entire civilised world, finally and irrevocably wins. Soon, the stories of modern heroes who are fighting and are already getting victory over the global evil represented by Russia on the information, cultural and military fronts will be heard in all corners of the world and, I am sure, will find a response in the hearts of thousands of people, which will be transformed into a desire to support Ukraine even more."

The creative team of MO3GI Group was in charge of finding illustrators and engaging the project's characters.

Iryna Horova, CEO of MOZGI Group: "This project is very important for our entire team and for me personally, as it emphasises how incredibly powerful the creative industry is today. These postcards are a joint experience of talented creators and courageous heroes, which is intended to inspire all Ukrainians. We support the heroes of our time who are resisting the enemy and doing incredible things every day, and we help to tell their amazing stories."

To create the postcards, 12 illustrators were invited, each bringing a sense of their own visual style to enhance the meaning of the stories told by the heroes. Each postcard is the result of the synergy between the illustrators and the characters. Although each postcard has its own signature, the extraordinary beauty and emotionality is the result of a joint collaboration. For example, one of these cards, a card featuring Azov commander Denys Prokopenko, was drawn by his wife Kateryna.

The media partner of the "Fight - You're Already Fighting" project was the online media outlet Svidomi, whose journalists took on a large part of the project's implementation, namely communication with the heroes.

Andriana Velyanyk, journalist at the online media outlet Svidomi: "This project is a lot of stories about struggle, strength and motivation. Most of the heroes are media people, and it is very important that we also managed to tell about those who do their work in silence. I learned a lot of heartbreaking stories through simple questions like: "How does your day usually go?", because for them every day is a day that can be told in its own right."

You can buy "Postcards of Heroes" with the heroes' images at Ukrposhta's central offices in regional centres and at postmark.ukrposhta.ua. The cost of a postcard is 40 UAH. All profits will be used to buy drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
