Since April, Ukrposhta has sent 2 million parcels in baggage cars of Ukrzaliznytsia. 11 wagons deliver mail from 6 cities of Ukraine - Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Kharkiv and Dnipro to Kyiv and back. During this period, the largest number of parcels arrived to Kyiv from Lviv and Kharkiv - this is 28%, and from Kyiv - to Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, which is 31% of the total number of parcels. Also, many items were delivered from Kharkiv to Kyiv and Lviv.

A total of 718 voyages were made and their number grew every month. The largest was in June, which increased by 55% compared to April. Also, the number of delivered parcels increased by 55% - from 477,000 parcels in April to 741,000 parcels in June.

“Our goal is to make maximum use of available resources and logistical capabilities of state-owned companies. As part of such cooperation between Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukrposhta, the practice of running mail cars from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Kharkiv and Dnipro to Kyiv and back has been revived. At the same time we are working on the modernization and development of the infrastructure of the railway stations for the development of the #RailwayPoshta project. The effectiveness of such cooperation is proven by the fact that more than 2 million parcels have already been delivered in 3.5 months. The development and expansion of #RailwayPoshta helps to minimize the losses caused by the aggressor to the Ukrainian economy, to preserve personnel and own logistics capacities” - commented the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

“The joint project of Ukrposhta and Ukrzaliznytsia proves its effectiveness. In three months of cooperation, 2 million items have already reached their addressees. In addition, this delivery channel also accelerated the speed of humanitarian goods arrival to Kharkiv, where the situation is now difficult, and to Dnipro, which shelters many displaced people. In addition, it was used for the relocation of enterprises from the eastern regions. I am grateful to my colleagues from Ukrzaliznytsia and our team for their coordinated work,” - comments Ukrposhta General Director Ihor Smilianskyi.

The parcel can be addressed to any locality where the Ukrposhta operates. Ukrposhta delivers goods that have arrived by rail to the final destination by automobile routes.
Railway mail also delivers humanitarian goods.

Their reception is carried out only in those post offices located next to the central railway stations. From April 9, humanitarian cargo can be processed from Lviv (post office 79023), Kyiv (post office 02505), Dnipro (post office 49501), Odesa (post office 65501) and Kharkiv (post office 61501). Or arrange an item in the “personal account” on the Ukrposhta website.

There is a special tariff for humanitarian cargo. The cost of one item weighing up to 30 kg with the longest side up to 70 cm is UAH 25. This is the minimum cost that will be spent on the preparation and maintenance of the mail car. However, if the volunteers are currently unable to pay for the cost of the parcels, the item will be accepted free of charge until the item and the cost of delivery will be covered by raising charitable funds. Collect shipment is not possible.

The storage period of the parcel in the destination city is up to 14 days. After that, if the recipient has not picked up the parcel, Ukrposhta hands it over to volunteer organizations and foundations. Please note that Ukrposhta reserves the right to take care of the parcel, and in case it contains not charitable but commercial cargo, such parcels will also be handed over to volunteer organizations with which Ukrposhta cooperates.

It should be mentioned that Ukrposhta, after a 21-year break, has resumed the delivery of items by railway.
