Statement of Ukrposhta on measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in Ukraine (regularly updated)

02.04.2020

On 11th March, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the Ukrainian Government decided to restrict mass events involving more than 200 people and to introduce quarantine in educational institutions. Ukrposhta, as a strategically important infrastructure organization, will continue its normal operation.

The company will continue to deliver pensions and cash payments to millions of customers, especially retirees, who are the most vulnerable to the possible coronavirus infection. These customers will also be able to pay utility bills at home, to receive household and essential goods, so as not to be at risk and not to go to shops or public gathering places.

The company will continue to accept and send parcels inside Ukraine and abroad.

The management of Ukrposhta would like to warn about a possible shortage of staff in certain post offices and facilities during the quarantine in educational institutions. However, the company will do its best to make such cases an exception and to minimize the potential inconvenience to our customers.

At the same time, Ukrposhta is monitoring the situation and is making every effort to keep the work of its employees safe. In particular, in case of the infection spread, the company has a supply of respirators and more than 100 thousand masks. Soon post offices, sorting centres and post offices will be provided with more than 11,000 disinfectants.

At the same time, in the event of any symptoms of illness, every employee should first consult a physician, inform his/her immediate supervisor and avoid any contact with colleagues and customers and remain quarantined.

If the mail carrier has any doubts about the poor health of the customer, the employer recommends avoiding contact with him/her and informing the head of the post office about this situation.

If an employee of Ukrposhta cannot leave a minor child alone during the quarantine in educational institutions, he/she should contact his/her supervisor to arrange a vacation or remote work and spend that time at home.

In the event of any risk to the health of employees, Ukrposhta management reserves the right to make adjustments to the mode of operation of post offices and the provision of postal and financial services.

As previously reported, according to the World Health Organization, the process of receiving parcels is safe for human health.

Ukrposhta encourages its customers not to panic, not to share unverified information and to follow basic hygiene rules.
