Ukrposhta has opened a high-capacity sorting terminal in Odesa

Ukrposhta has opened in Odesa a logistics terminal with automated sorting lines that enables fast processing and delivery of shipments for the entire south of Ukraine. The small and large postal items sorting lines equipment allows to process up to 270,000 parcels per day. Together with the restructuring of logistics routes, this will make it possible to deliver shipments to customers in Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts within 24 hours following the sorting.

Despite the daily shelling and destruction of infrastructure, Ukrposhta continues to invest in the modernization of its logistics terminals, replacing manual sorting with modern automated lines. Ukrposhta's new terminal, which started operations in Odesa, is equipped with Ukrainian-made equipment and software that processes three parcels per second.

The opening of the Odesa terminal is part of Ukrposhta's development and modernization strategy launched in 2021. Despite the shelling, energy supply problems and inflation, Ukrposhta not only continues to upgrade its sorting lines, but also has ambitious plans. So far, the Company has arranged 17 automated lines in seven cities across Ukraine: nine lines sort small postal items and eight sort large parcels. During the next two months, the Company will be opening new terminals, logistics centers and depots with innovative equipment in cities across Ukraine.

"Odesa region is the place where I was born and raised, but the opening of the Odesa terminal is important for the whole south of the country. Its particularity is that parcels for three oblasts - Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv - are sorted here. By arranging fully automated sorting lines, Ukrposhta is able to respond adaptively to changes in the military situation and, by reducing the possibility of sorting errors, deliver shipments to their destinations quickly and accurately. According to the transformation strategy, Ukrposhta not only automates sorting, but also rebuilds logistics routes to deliver faster across the country," Ukrposhta CEO Igor Smelyansky commented. "Our goal is a real digital revolution in sorting and logistics this year.”

Ukrposhta plans to complete the automation of all 7 terminals and 16 logistics centers in 2024.
